Mai Mizuta

Managing Director & Head of Tokyo

Mai is a Managing Director and Head of Teneo’s Tokyo office. She advises Teneo’s local and global clients on strategic positioning, issues advisory, corporate governance, financial communications, shareholder activism defense, and stakeholder relations. Mai also advises clients on complex crossborder M&A transactions, leveraging her extensive expertise in the field.​

She brings significant experience in corporate reputation and positioning, corporate narrative development, DEI, ESG and crisis management. She works with Japanese and international companies to help them navigate complex challenges and achieve their strategic goals. Mai also leads Teneo’s coaching practice in Japan, offering executive coaching and development programs.​

Before joining Teneo, Mai served as the Asia-Pacific Content Director at Acuris / ION Analytics, where she was responsible for the editorial content direction and strategy for global M&A intelligence services Mergermarket and Dealreporter. She managed seven bureaus across the Asia-Pacific region, leading a team of journalists, editors, and analysts covering M&A, private equity, shareholder activism, and event-driven/special situations. Mai was also concurrently Japan Bureau Chief.​

Mai is fluent in both Japanese and English. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of British Columbia.​
