Philip Gawith

Senior Managing Director

Philip is a Senior Managing Director at Teneo. He has twenty year’s experience as a communications adviser, specialising in boardroom advice, financial communications and complex reputation challenges.

He was previously one of the founders of StockWell, a financial communications firm launched in 2010 and bought by Teneo in 2015. Prior to StockWell, Philip worked from 1998-2010 at Maitland, where he rose to serve as chief executive.

Philip has broad sectoral experience, with particular expertise in consumer/retail, financial services, including alternative assets, and natural resources. He has advised on a number of significant and challenging M&A situations, and maintains an ongoing interest and involvement in South Africa.

Prior to entering the advisory world, Philip was a financial journalist, working on the Financial Times from 1990-98, including stints in the economics room and on the Lex column. He grew up in South Africa and read Law at Oxford University.
